Spliteze - Split the rent, bills, meal tabs and other shared liabilities

There are many apps for splitting bills, rent and meals - but most of them are very complicated and required time-consuming, confusing and often require onerous data entry that no one has time for.

There has to be a simpler way!!

Well Here it is = >

SplitEZE - the Easy Way to Split Meal Tabs Fairly

1. Splitting Bills - EZE Way

The best and simplest way is to split on relative ability to pay - that is on the overall income of each person sharing the bill.

2. Split the Rent Based on Bedroom Size and Features

The best and simplest way to split is based on the relative size of each room and the features of each room. The generally principle is that:

The calculator adjusts the rent based on the features of each room relative to the other rooms in the house. The features add to or subtract from the formula used to calculate the rent after all features are considered. Extra good features such are large windows add to the rent, and poor features such as the lack of a closet or ensuite reduce the amount of rent paid relative to the other rooms.

The values of the features has been determined by a series of surveys among people that shared rooms in houses. The table below shows how the various features and attributes were rated by a group of people when surveyed.

The best and simplest way to split is based on the relative size of each room and the features of each room. The generally principle is that:

Factor Average Rating
Room layout and design 2.7
Noisy room with street noise 3.1
Large closet 3.3
Large window or many windows 3.4
No closet or wardrobe 3.7
Double occupancy 3.7
No window or very small window 4.1
Bedroom Size 4.2
Private Ensuite with Toilet only 4.3
Private Ensuite with shower & Toilet 4.4
No door 4.6

3. Split the Meal Tab

There are many excellent apps available for splitting meal bills according to which individual ate what. But, once you get beyond three
or four people the data entry requirements become especially onerous. You fellow diners do not want to deal with the complexity and time wasting and the restaurant may get very annoyed.

SplitEZE provides three simple options, which require a little give and take, but which can be done will minimal time and data entry:

  1. Split the bill evenly among all members of the party. You simply need to add the tax and tip to the final bill as percentages. The app calculates equal shares of the total bill
  2. Split the bill depending who had drinks, such as wine and beer, and not (allowing for soft drinks and juice to be excluded: Simply find the total drinks cost as enter it into the app, along with the number of people who shared the drinks. The app calculates the share for non-drinkers - food-only, and for drinkers. You only need to enter the total bill (including drinks), the drinks cost (part of the total bill) and the number of drinks. The app calculates the share of the bill for each drinker and non-drinker.
  3. This version allows for separate costs to be calculated for those who had entrees (appetisers) and/or desserts as well as the main meal. To simplify the data entry requirements all you need to do is enter the average entree cost and average dessert costs as a percentage of the average main meal costs. There is no need for accuracy as a general estimate for the averages will suffice. Firstly, you need to enter the cost of the drinks as part of the total bill. Then, all you need to do, is to click the checkboxes for those people who had entrees, desserts and drinks. The app calculates the bill for each person (using simple labels 'A', 'B', and 'C' etc.). Once again the data entry requirements are minimal.
